On the eve of International Women’s Day, we would like to speak about another remarkable person — Lala Abdyrahmanova, a representative of the Human Rights Platform of the Civil Movement DAYANÇ / Turkmenistan. Lala is an incredibly strong woman. By profession she is an educator, but by nature she is also a true investigator and journalist — someone who constantly searches for truth, analyzes facts, and never passes by someone else’s misfortune. Combining a full-time profession with human rights advocacy is extremely difficult. It requires tremendous inner strength, discipline, and genuine dedication. Lala Abdyrahmanova manages to do this as if it were simple and natural. Yet behind this stands enormous effort, constant work, and deep compassion for people. Only a person who truly empathizes with the struggles of others — someone who sincerely wishes to help and feels responsible for justice — can combine such seemingly incompatible roles: professional work and civic activism. Lala Abdyrahmanova bravely and selflessly defends the rights of citizens of Turkmenistan. Every day she shares new ideas and initiatives aimed at strengthening human rights advocacy and advancing the protection of fundamental freedoms. Over the years of her activism, she has taken part in and organized many important initiatives: organized protest actions in Istanbul and Alanya, traveled to Ankara to support Gulala Hasanova during the court proceedings against her husband, civil activist Alisher Sakhadov, participated in the OSCE, where she spoke about the problems faced by citizens of Turkmenistan and the persecution of activists, organized a protest action there as well, held an exhibition dedicated to the victims of dictatorship, distributed informational leaflets to raise awareness about human rights issues. She is a person of remarkable energy, strength, and dedication. A woman. A mother. A human rights defender. An educator. And simply a wonderful human being. Lala Abdyrahmanova is the kind of person who never walks past someone else’s suffering and is always ready to extend a helping hand. She does this sincerely and selflessly, believing deeply in justice and the dignity of every human being. On the eve of International Women’s Day, we warmly congratulate Lala Abdyrahmanova. We wish her good health, inspiration, strength, patience, continued success, and broad opportunities for creativity and work. May her energy, integrity, and kindness continue to serve the cause of human rights and inspire others not to be afraid to speak the truth.
