To the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ashgabat Regarding the Need for Official Information for Citizens of Turkmenistan in Connection with the Escalating Situation Around Iran Dear Sir/Madam, The Human Rights Platform of the Civic Movement “DAYANÇ” / Turkmenistan expresses its concern regarding the growing tensions surrounding the Islamic Republic of Iran and the absence of official information provided to citizens of Turkmenistan. At a time when several states have already issued official recommendations advising their citizens to leave the territory of Iran or to refrain from traveling to the region until the situation stabilizes, no public clarification or advisory has yet been issued by Turkmenistan. According to available information, citizens of Turkmenistan are currently present in Iran, including students, labor migrants, private sector representatives, and families. In the event of further escalation, their safety may be placed at risk. In accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan and the state’s international obligations, the protection of the life and safety of citizens, wherever they may be, is a direct responsibility of state authorities, including diplomatic missions. In this regard, we respectfully request: Official information regarding the current risk assessment for citizens of Turkmenistan located in Iran. Clarification as to whether diplomatic and consular institutions are prepared to provide emergency assistance if necessary. Consideration of publishing official recommendations for citizens of Turkmenistan, including guidance on actions to take in the event of a deterioration of the situation. Ensuring transparent communication through official channels. Timely communication and preventive measures are not political statements; they are matters of ensuring the fundamental safety of citizens. We firmly believe that the state authorities of Turkmenistan are obligated to act in the interests of their citizens and to guarantee their right to information and protection.
