The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has announced an open call for applications to join the Board of the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking (UNVTF) for the 2027–2029 term. Professionals and representatives of civil society with experience in the following areas are invited to apply: human rights protection; assistance to victims of human trafficking; migration; criminal justice; access to social and legal services. For citizens of Turkmenistan and Turkmen human rights defenders, this opportunity is especially significant amid ongoing labor migration, the vulnerability of citizens abroad, the lack of effective legal protection, and the risks of exploitation. The participation of independent experts and human rights defenders from countries with restricted civic freedoms is particularly important to ensure that the problems faced by victims of trafficking, migrants, and vulnerable groups are heard at the international level. The United Nations encourages candidates with professional experience and a strong understanding of victim protection issues to submit their applications. 📌 Additional information: tinyurl.com/3uscnsu8 📌 Source: UN Human Trafficking & Migrant Smuggling Section (UNODC) https://x.com/UNODC_HTMSS 📌 Photo taken from the UNODC_HTMSS source.
