THE FATE OF ABDYLLA ORUSOV AND ALISHER SAKHATOV MUST BE CLARIFIED Citizens of Turkmenistan, Abdylla Orusov and Alisher Sakhatov, sought refuge in Türkiye due to the risk of torture, ill-treatment, and threats to their lives in their home country. While residing in Türkiye under applications for international protection, they were placed in a Removal Center following the imposition of a restriction code and deportation orders issued against them. The Constitutional Court ruled that the activists belong to the category of foreigners who cannot be deported and issued interim measures in favor of both individuals. The legal case challenging the restriction code remains ongoing. According to statements by the migration authorities, Abdylla Orusov and Alisher Sakhatov were released on 24 July from the Edirne Removal Center, where they had been held under administrative detention, on the condition that they travel to Sinop. However, contrary to the statements of the migration authorities, no contact has been established with them since that date, giving rise to serious concerns that they may have been deported to Turkmenistan. Under Law No. 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection, Abdylla Orusov and Alisher Sakhatov fall within the category of persons who must not be returned. If deported to Turkmenistan, or to a third country that could subsequently extradite them to Turkmenistan, their lives would face grave danger. Under the current conditions, Turkmenistan is a country where severe human rights violations are widespread, torture is commonplace, political prisoners disappear, and arbitrary punishment is routinely imposed. Tragically, some Turkmen activists previously deported from Türkiye, such as Farhad Durdyyew, have never been heard from again. As MAZLUMDER, we call upon the Ministry of Interior, particularly the Edirne Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, to immediately provide clarification regarding the fate of the two Turkmen activists, Abdylla Orusov and Alisher Sakhatov, who have been missing since 24 July. We further demand that their safety be guaranteed and that any deportation procedures against them be immediately halted.
