Statement to the OSCE in Support of the Campaign “We Want Only Justice”

Statement to the OSCE in Support of the Campaign “We Want Only Justice” Distinguished Chair, Esteemed representatives of the OSCE participating States, Dear colleagues, The Human Rights Platform of the Civil Movement “DAYANÇ Turkmenistan” respectfully draws your attention to a matter of urgent concern — the enforced disappearance of two Turkmen civil activists, Alisher Sakhatov and Abdulla Orusov. In July 2025, both activists disappeared on the territory of the Republic of Türkiye after being held in the Edirne Removal Center. Since that time, no official information has been provided regarding their fate or whereabouts, raising serious concerns under international human rights law, including obligations related to the protection from enforced disappearance. Their families and the broader civil society continue to seek answers. However, the absence of transparency and accountability in this case deepens concerns about the safety of Turkmen activists abroad and the broader pattern of transnational repression. In response, the Human Rights Platform of the Civil Movement “DAYANÇ Turkmenistan” has launched an international online campaign under the slogan: “We Want Only Justice.” The campaign aims to: raise international awareness about the disappearance of the activists; call for truth, accountability, and justice; urge competent authorities to conduct a prompt, independent, and transparent investigation. We respectfully call on the OSCE and its participating States to: express public support for the campaign “We Want Only Justice”; raise this case within relevant OSCE human dimension mechanisms; call on the authorities to ensure a transparent, impartial, and effective investigation; support efforts aimed at clarifying the fate and whereabouts of the missing activists; reinforce commitments to protect human rights defenders and prevent transnational repression. For the families of Alisher Sakhatov and Abdulla Orusov, each passing day without information prolongs uncertainty and suffering. For civil society, this case represents a critical test of the international community’s commitment to human rights and accountability. We believe that the engagement of the OSCE can play a decisive role in ensuring that this case is not forgotten and that justice is pursued.
