SOS! Stop Violence Against Girls and Women in Turkmenistan! In light of the increasing number of reported cases of violence and sexual harassment, as well as numerous reports of intimidation, threats, and pressure against survivors by representatives of the security services, including the Ministry of National Security of Turkmenistan, we call for immediate action. We urge the authorities of Turkmenistan to: - Immediately establish independent hotlines for survivors of violence. - Create independent crisis centers where survivors can receive psychological, legal, and social support. - Ensure the highest level of protection for survivors and witnesses. - End all intimidation, threats, and attempts to silence survivors. - Conduct independent, impartial, and effective investigations into all reports of violence and sexual crimes. No girl and no woman should ever be afraid to seek help. We also call on the leaders of democratic countries, international organizations, and diplomatic missions: Do not turn a blind eye to what is happening. Do not ignore the suffering of survivors. Raise the protection of women and girls in every official dialogue with the authorities of Turkmenistan. There can be no meaningful engagement while survivors are subjected to intimidation, threats, and pressure instead of receiving protection and justice. Stop violence! End violence! Protect the girls and women of Turkmenistan! Survivors deserve support—not threats! SOS! The world must not remain silent.
